  • What chiropractors do?
The chiropractor begins with establishing your case history. This is achieved by asking you questions about your health, such as accidents, the onset of your condition, surgery, your medical history, your life style and other details affecting your current health status.
After reviewing your history and fully discussing your primary concern with you, a thorough examination and assessment of your condition is performed. The examination includes a postural analysis, orthopedic, neurological testing, vital signs, subluxation analysis and other tests specific to your presentation. A radiological examination may also be recommended to complete the picture.
The findings of these examinations are explained to you in detail and based on that a treatment plan of chiropractic corrections will be recommended. Chiropractors use specific adjustments to restore normal nerve function. Your progress is monitored with periodic examinations and follow-up reports. We continue to keep you informed throughout your program regarding the progress of your condition and strive to better educate you in achieving optimal health.
  • What is a chiropractic adjustment?
Chiropractic adjustments usually involve a quick thrust to a specific joint in a specific direction that helps add motion to spinal joints that are not moving fully or are incorrectly positioned. When the spine is mis-aligned, Chiropractors call this condition ‘Subluxation’. ‘Adjustments’ are used to correct subluxations. An adjustment may involve using the doctor's hands, an instrument, a special table or the force of gravity. There are many ways to adjust the spine. The Chiropractor determines the method of adjustment depending on the patient’s age, severity of the problem and the condition of the spine. The intensity and mode also varies when adjusting babies, children, pregnant women and the elderly.
  • Are chiropractic adjustments painful?
The short answer is no. Most of our patients assure us that they feel a sense of total relaxation after an adjustment. Many say that they can feel the pressure lifting from their spine following an adjustment and often experience immediate relief from pain. At Rainbow Chiropractic we use safe, efficient and gentle techniques. We adjust babies and children too. Often the pressure used to adjust an infant’s spine is no more pressure than an adult can tolerate on the eyeball.
  • Is chiropractic care safe?
With growing concerns about over-medication and side effects of combining various prescription drugs, Chiropractic care is growing in popularity. Today where health care intervention is a leading cause of death and disability, primarily due to inappropriate use of pharmaceuticals, it is important to consider safety when making your health care choices. Chiropractic is one of the fasting growing health professions in the world. Chiropractic care is a natural approach to better health that avoids invasive procedures. Chiropractic is remarkably safe and effective for people of all ages.
  • Am I too old for chiropractic care?
Restoring better spinal function can help improve mobility, vitality, endurance, and appetite. Many patients report improvement with arthritic symptoms and other chronic ailments often associated with the ageing process. As we get older and wiser, the simplicity and effectiveness of chiropractic care becomes more and more obvious. More and more people are consulting chiropractors, especially in their later years. The method of treating the spine is a gentle and comfortable restoration of spinal function. At Rainbow, we care for a number of patients in their 90’s and they all benefit greatly from our wellness care.
  • What is wellness care?
At Rainbow Chiropractic we encourage Wellness care. Wellness means taking responsibility for your own health. Wellness care is maintaining your spinal alignment. Once the spinal correction is done, it is your responsibility to maintain the adjustment. This is similar to someone having their dental braces removed. When braces are removed you still have to wear a retainer so that you will not lose the correction. The basis of wellness care is the fact that a properly aligned spine functions better because of the removal of nerve pressure. Wellness care is maintenance and preventative in nature. You get your adjustments periodically, so that you do not lose the hard work that has been done initially to relieve the nerve pressure in your spine. This method of care is efficient, cost effective and rewarding to the patient.
